SLSA is a non-profit, membership organization of approximately 40 student loan servicing companies and software providers of Federal education loans.

If you are a parent or student beginning your search for a student loan, it is important to know what type of federal student aid program your school offers. Most schools offer either the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) or the Federal Direct Loan Program (FDLP). Under the Direct Loan Program, your loan comes directly from the federal government. Funds for your FFELP loan will come from your choice of participating lenders. (Most schools maintain lists of lenders with whom they work on a regular basis.)
